Re: Hair for your baby?

Well, I see this popping up in chat a whole of a lot, so I'll try to answer these two questions here for you!

"Sweet Penelope has hair in the pictures! Do Zoobies now come with hair?"
No, they don't. I got sick of my baby always having an almost-bald head, or a pathetic little bowtie with a tuft of hair. So, with the aid of Photoshop, I've added hair to her cute little face in all the clothing advertisements. Again, the hair is photoshopped! My baby is just as bald as yours. :(

"Sweet Penelope has a hat attachment now! Is it possible to do the same with hair?"
Not at this time. This question opens up a whole can of worms that I hate to deal with. So let me try to answer this in stages:

  1. Sweet Penelope's coats, hats, scarves, and hoodies attach to you, not your baby. They don't interact with the Zooby at all. It's very clever positioning and design, that's all!
  2. When you hold or rez your baby, watch her head. She likes to look left, right, up, and down, examining her surroundings just like any baby would. In order for "attachment" hair to look natural on her, it would need to also move left, right, up, and down, in time with her head.
  3. To achieve something like this, you would have to be one hell of an LSL scripter. The script would have to account for your height and how it factors in with the baby, for the rotation of the hair, for the timing of the baby's head's movements (which appear to be set on a randomly generated timer and direction), and for various sim lag that could make her hair turn left before her head actually does. In a nutshell? It would only work in a super-controlled environment, and probably for only about 10 seconds before your baby's hair starts doing an impression of Donald Trump's toupee.
  4. The easiest solution would be for Carrie Tatsu and her scripters to implement hair directly onto their Zooby babies. Attached to their heads, it would move seamlessly whenever they turned to look left, or right, or wherever. It would also work when you rez your baby and let her crawl around, instead of only when you hold her.
  5. In order for your baby to crawl around on the ground, she needs to be set to Physical in the object properties. An object with more than 32 prims can't be set to physical! So Zooby has developed quite a neat system of using a single prim and allowing it to take form of any item you want. In the future, your babies will have hair. You just have to be patient!
UPDATE: Because Zooby Baby loves you, Carrie is working on quite the update for the babies. I have seen one of the new features first-hand, and I must say... I wished I was wearing a diaper myself because I almost wet my pants with excitement. Here is a quote from the official notecard, in case you missed it:
In a few months we will begin development on updating the Zooby Baby.  The update will allow things like long hair, different colored hair,  jewelry, scarves, boots, long dresses, neko tails, elf ears, a variety of different shaped hats, additional prims for holiday costumes, you name it!  Everything you ever requested we will try to add.  In addition,  the baby will be able to play with new toys, eat from a highchair, and even learn to walk.  We are currently working on a product now that uses something we named "XPrims", prims that can become anything.  We hope to have this product completed in January.  As soon as it is completed we plan to take the code from this new product and use it when we update the Zooby Baby.

Please do not IM me asking me when the Zooby Baby will be updated or if it is already updated.  I promise you, I will keep you personally informed in the group.  And trust me, the update will be well worth the wait.

Carrie Tatsu

I hope that's cleared up some air about this... Any other questions? Feel free to IM or notecard me!

Santa's Lil Helper

We saw some snow bunnies. Now it's time for Santa's little helpers! A simple red dress with a silk green belt and fur trim is perfect for sitting under the Christmas tree. Soft cotton stockings and fur-trimmed ballet-style shoes keep your babygirl's legs warm. A simple diamond rests on a red silk cord around her neck.

The outfit is supplemented by TWO of Sweet Penelope's patented attachments: Santa hat, and a mini fur bolero. This is where I try to sell you on Viewer 2.2+ again, because if you want to wear both at the same time? You can only do it with 2.2 or higher. Besides, 2.3 now lets you set your in-game name to anything you want. Tired of chicks hitting on your baby's daddy with you standing right there? Then get a matching last name in 2 seconds flat! How adorable is that?

But if you insist on using Phoenix, you're gonna have to wear either pick between bolero and hat, or spend a few excruciating minutes adjusting one of them to fit on your baby by attaching it to R. Forearm 2. If you pick this route, I highly recommend making a copy of the original first!

Snow Bunnies

The second outfit of Winter 2010 is here! It's called "Snow Bunny" and it's perfect to dress your child in when you're thinking of going to that new ski resort a few sims over! And finally, after a long period of being biased towards girly outfits only, I've split this outfit into boys' and girls'!

The girls' outfit comes with a little fur-trimmed dress. The boys' outfit is a jumper with fur-trimmed pant cuffs. Both of these set come with two versions of a prim fur bunny hood. Wear it up or wear it down; either way, it's sure to keep your baby warm this winter!

Snow Queen

When I was a little kid, I used to watch an old Soviet movie called "The Snow Queen." It was my favourite holiday movie, even though looking back on it, it was really kind of depressing.

The wardrobe in that movie was really amazing, though! So with that in mind, I set out to make the first outfit of the Winter 2010 Collection: "Snow Queen."

This cute little blue and white sparkle dress comes complete with little ballerina shoes, fur trim, and even a tiny little sapphire necklace.

And of course it wouldn't be a winter outfit without a prim attachment! This time we've got a beautiful little fur bolero you can throw over your girl -- perfect to wear with any outfit, not just this one!

Burberry Ballerina

Introducing the last addition to the Autumn 2010 Collection!

Yes, we're back to burberry print again! Just because it's cold and dark and rainy outside, doesn't mean your babygirl has to look just as gloomy! Dress her in this cute little outfit, complete with a cotton shirt, burberry-printed skirt, cotton leggings, and a pair of sweet ballerina shoes!

And of course the tradition of optional prim attachments continues! This time you can give your little girl an adorable little burberry scarf to wear while you hold her!

Juicy Pink Punk

Outfit #3 of the Sweet Penelope Autumn 2010 Collection is out today!

This new outfit features something I instantly fell in love with when I saw it - a frilly tulle skirt, held up by a studded black and silver belt! Nothing makes a girl feel more like a princess than a big, utterly floofy skirt. To complete the sweet punky look, the top is a striped 3/4 sleeve sweater with the Juicy Couture logo on the front. And to keep your baby's legs warm, I've given her a pair of pink loose socks - you know they're always all the rage in Japan! The little black shoes feature the Juicy Couture crown logo.

I'm also trying out another new feature to the Sweet Penelope outfits - an optional prim puffy vest! Just like the hoodie from the white tracksuit, this vest attaches to your right forearm and sits comfortably around the baby's torso when held in Holding or Bottlefeed AO positions.

Special Note: Maybe I'm just slower than everyone else since I never read viewer updates, but I discovered a new feature in Viewer 2.0 that might make those of you that use it very happy in regards to this new prim vest:
To wear more than one thing on the same attach point, simply right-click "Wear" the first item from your inventory, then right-click "Add" on the second item from your inventory. So to wear a prim jacket sleeve on your forearm and the prim baby vest, select "Wear" on your sleeve, then right-click and select "Add" on the baby vest. And voila! You are now wearing your jacket sleeve / bracelet / arm warmer and the prim baby vest!
Is that not the coolest thing you've ever heard? Now we REALLY don't need Phoenix anymore! >:) Anyway, outfit is now available at the main store!

And I've got to add a special note for my BFF Phacia: You really brought back the "Afro Puff" look! I will be stealing more styling tips from you soon!
